Welcome to SilverChicks! We would like to tell you a bit about the SilverChicks. We are stay-at-home moms, Valissa and Catie. We started making jewelry several years ago and were in constant sticker shock every time we went to local bead supply stores to purchase beads and findings. That prompted us to develop SilverChicks: a resource for people like us, a place to get quality supplies without paying astronomical prices. Our goal never included being bead distributors and over time SilverChicks has evolved, and we now host artisans & their work and are working to develop a strong representation of unique hand crafted jewelry. We love the African items and gorgeous African beads, to include Kazuri, that are part of our business. We are really appreciative of the depth those items bring to our site. A lot of people inquire as to how and where we get the African items and whether or not we participate in Fair Trade and the answer is absolutely YES to Fair Trade. The answer to how and where is that Catie travels back and forth to East Africa a number of times a year. She hand picks 95% of the items that we sell and the other 5% of our inventory come from vendors who also participate in Fair Trade practices. Thank you for visiting SilverChicks!
